Extra important sites to advocate for the family with an autistic child or children....
https://mhautism.org/ when I had a very pressing matter with my insurance company and was at a loss at what else to do I contacted the wonderful people here and got some great advice that helped finish the letter I was writing. Great family advocates. Karen Fessel
https://www.ronniesawesomelist.com/autism-tool-kit/
Ronnie and I collaborated on this page to help keep other families up to date on sites that are helpful for parents of autistic children .
http://www.pathfindersforautism.org/ages/birth-5 check list to give a simple guide of what you done so far and where you need to go
http://www.ggrc.org/services/applying-for-services This agency Golden Gate Regional Center has been our greatest resource and extremely helpful and caring. All questions answered and support given so willing. Check for a regional center near you. (Helped us setting up both speech and ABA therapy.
http://www.ggrc.org/about-us/responsibilities#What_is_Early_Start Getting your child into an early start program is a fantastic way to intervene as early as can be. Help before age 3 is crucial and if your child is fortunate enough, as Hannah was to be diagnosed early in life, getting into an early start program is certainly the way to go.
My favorite books thus far:
The Spark by Kristine Barnett
The Spark by Kristine Barnett
This book changed the way my husband and I thought about our daughters diagnosis and gave us great hope that we could meet her where she was at, it would just take some time and trial and error to figure her world out more. Very inspirational!
